Makna Teologis-Sosiologis Tradisi Ma’gere’ dan Implikasinya Bagi Relasi Islam dan Kristen Di Rano

Abstract

Toraja culture is a wealth owned by the Toraja people specifically for the Toraja Church, many cultures are still being implemented by the Toraja people until now, to be able to enjoy Christianity in Toraja culture it is very necessary to interpret habits or culture and then apply that meaning in the lives of Toraja people. So the author is interested in exploring Toraja culture by raising the title "ma'gere'". Ma'gere' in Torajan cultural rutus is the most important part as a sacrifice offered. So the author departs from the background of the understanding of Muslims who forbid animals that are digere' by Christians because they consider Christians to be infidels, so in this case Christians feel unfair about such treatment. So in this thesis aims to provide understanding to the Christian community in Rano to understand that the teachings of Muslims forbid food that is digere' by other people (other religions). This research was conducted using a qualitative method with a literature study and field research approach. As believers, food distinction is not a problem in culture, because Jesus Christ has redeemed our sins on the Cross on the basis of the love He has bestowed on us. Therefore, to create cultural harmony in Toraja, Christianity gives Muslims the opportunity to ma'gere' on the basis of that love.
