This paper aims to discover the human nature of to mebalun (the person who wraps the corpse) from the perspective of Imago Dei. Using qualitative research methods, I found that the Sesean Suloara community, which is already Christian, is still bound by the cultural tradition of Aluk Nene’ which underestimates To Mebalun and does not treat him well in society. To mebalun, as a human being, experiences various oppressions, such as being ostracised, humiliated, and considered as untouchable people. Of course, this contradicts the teachings of Christianity. I will use Dalit Theology to respond to this phoneme of Toraja society. Therefore, the main argument of this paper is that to mebalun, as humans, are also created in the image and likeness of God.
