Abstract

The New Jerusalem represents a concept that offers a fundamental transformation, from bondage to sin toward a restored relationship with God. This concept reflects a continuous theological trajectory from the Old Testament to the New Testament, embodying God’s promise of restoration and the realization of an ideal life for His people. Nevertheless, this promise entails demands that must be fulfilled, namely the responsibility to live in accordance with God’s will in the present and to proclaim the Gospel of Christ to all corners of the world, including the digital sphere. Accordingly, this article seeks to elaborate on an exploration of Revelation 21:1–4, particularly in relation to the dimension of responsibility, in order to establish a primary foundation for the church’s engagement with the digital world. The conceptual framework of Society 5.0 is employed to emphasize that the physical and digital realms have now converged for the betterment of human life. These findings are then brought into dialogue with the principles of evangelism and digital theology. Therefore, the central argument advanced is that evangelism in the digital sphere is grounded in the concept of the New Jerusalem. In this way, the spirit of evangelism becomes an endeavor to embrace humanity and the whole of creation, enabling them to experience transformation toward an ideal form of life.
