Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the drill method assisted by Baamboozle media on students' learning outcomes in fairy tale materials among sixth-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 060863 Medan Timur in the 2025/2026 academic year. The research problem originated from students’ low learning outcomes, particularly in understanding intrinsic elements, moral messages, characters, and plot structures in fairy tales. One alternative strategy to address this issue is the implementation of the drill method combined with the interactive digital learning platform Baamboozle. This study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research sample consisted of 24 sixth-grade students selected through total sampling. The research instrument was a learning achievement test that had been validated and tested for reliability. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including normality tests, paired-sample t-tests, and N-Gain analysis. The results revealed that the mean pretest score of 58.42 increased to 84.79 in the posttest. The paired-sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of the drill method assisted by Baamboozle media on students’ learning outcomes. The N-Gain score of 0.63 was categorized as moderate to high. These findings indicate that the drill method combined with Baamboozle effectively enhances student engagement, reinforces repetitive practice, and improves students’ understanding of fairy tale materials. Therefore, the drill method assisted by Baamboozle media can serve as an innovative instructional alternative to improve Indonesian language learning outcomes in elementary schools.
