Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the intensity of digital learning application use on the learning motivation of lower elementary school students. The background of this study is based on a shift in the educational paradigm that emphasizes the importance of integrating digital technology into learning, including at the lower grade level, which is often overlooked in studies on the digitization of education. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a survey technique. The population in this study was all students in grades I–III at SDN Polaman Kota Semarang, with a sample of 20 students selected proportionally from each grade level. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire on the intensity of digital application use and a learning motivation questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis used simple linear regression to test the influence between variables. The results showed that there was a positive and significant influence between the intensity of digital learning application use and the learning motivation of lower grade elementary school students, with a coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.691. This indicates that 69.1% of the variation in learning motivation can be explained by the intensity of digital application use. Students who frequently use learning applications show higher enthusiasm, consistency in learning, and interest in the material. These findings imply that the use of digital technology in lower grades can be a strategic alternative to increase learning motivation, provided that its implementation is accompanied by teacher guidance and the active role of parents.
