Penerapan Pendekatan Kontekstual dalam Pembelajaran Matematika Siswa Kelas VII SMPN 1 Tikala

Abstract

The contextual approach is a  learning strategy that emphasizes the full involvement of students in finding the material being studied and connecting it to real-world situations. This research is a quantitative study, which aims to determine the application of contextual approach is learning mathematics for class VII students of SMPN 1 Tikala. The population in this study were all students of class VII SMPN 1 Tikala, who were active and  enrolled in 2023 learning. It consisted of classes, namely class VII.1, VII.2 and VII.3, with a totl of 98 students, while the sample for this study was class VII.32 totaling 32 students who were taken with the technique. The type of research used is experimental research with pre-test dan post-test designs. Based on the result of the study it was found that: 1)the implementation of learning with a contextual approach wa categorized as good, this can be seen from the average score obtained during three meetings of 3.37. 2) student active during the learning process with a contextual approach is categorized as active. 3) the contextual approach can improve students’ mathematics learning outcomes. This can be seen in the increase is students’ mathematics learning outcomes before being taught with a contextual approach with an average score of 16.75 and after being taught with a contextual approach, the average score is 74.5.
